Les Révélations
Dans les Révélations, je joue avec les opposés : Mouvement et structure, couleur et blanc, profusion et silence, apparition et effacement.
La couleur surgit, se superpose, se fragmente, avant que le blanc ne vienne parfois le contenir, la recouvrir ou la mettre à distance. Le carré, élément récurrent de mon travail, structure cet apparent désordre et devient tour à tour cadre, présence ou absence.
Des Classiques aux Silencieux jusqu’aux Emergences, une même recherche demeure : donner à voir sans tout dévoiler et laisser apparaître ce qui semblait caché.
Like many artists, I am first and foremost a colourist, making strong, vibrant colours burst forth expressing my passion and my determination. However I am, to my knowledge, the only one to reveal colour by hiding it. The white square, a brush stroke here and there, at once masking and revealing the surge of shades behind.
Although nowadays our privacy is thrown open to the eyes of all, modesty withers, I perform a flamboyant about-turn from this diktat and preserve intimacy by systematically placing my whites, behind which the viewer searches to discover what is hiding there, wanting more than anything to slide behind the mirror, because…
